Ghana is looking for a unique brand name for its crude oil in line with international practice where producing countries have branded produce in distinctive ways to attract premium prices. Some of the band names are Arab Light (Saudi Arabia), Minas (Indonesia) Saharan Blend (Algeria), Tijuana Light (Venezuela), Fateh (Dubai) and Boney Light (Nigeria). Others are the Brent Blend family which includes Brend Crude, Brent Sweet Light Crude, Oseburg and Forties all drilled from the North Sea alongside Western Europe.

The much anticipated Floating Production Storage Offloading, (FPSO) Kwame Nkrumah, a key facility in the entire crude oil production, arrived at the Jubilee Field in Takoradi in the Western Region Monday morning.

The Deputy Minister of Energy and Member of Parliament for the Ellembele Constituency, Hon Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah cautioned the youth of Ghana particularly those along the coast of the Western Region against the high expectation that the oil industry in Ghana would be the panacea to solving all the problems facing the country. This he said at a meeting he held at town hall meetings he was holding with community members of his constituency especially among the youth to receive their concerns and to offer solutions to address the challenges of the Constituency.
