This Energy Policy outlines the Government of Ghana’s policy direction regarding the current challenges facing the energy sector. The document provides a concise outline of the Government’s policy direction in order to contribute to a better understanding of Ghana’s Energy Policy framework. It is hoped that the document will facilitate the effective management and development of the energy sector as well as provide the public with information about the Government’s policy goals.

The Parliament select Committee of Mines and Energy announces for the information of the General Public that the Petroleum (Exploration and Production) Bill 2010 has been laid before Parliament and referred to the Committee for consideration and report.
Members of the Public who have concerns of the provisions of the Bill or any interest thereof may submit written memoranda to the committee through the following address:

THE CLERK, COMMITTEE ON MINES AND ENERGY, OFFICE OF PARLIAMENT,PARLIAMENT HOUSE, ACCRA, GHANA.
All memoranda should reach the clerk to the Committee on or before Friday 27th August 2010.

Mr. Inusah Fuseini (Deputy Minister of Energy) has disclosed to a visiting Turkish business delegation that, the Volta Aluminium Company (VALCO) which was shut down some two years ago due to power supply constraints is to be reactivated.
Briefing the delegation on Ghana’s emerging Oil and Gas Industry and its prospects, he said it should be possible for the VALCO to resume operations and make profit with the discovery of gas and crude oil in commercial quantities as tariffs on utilities would be reduced to enable businesses thrive.
