GHANA ENERGY AWARDS PAYS A COURTESY CALL ON THE MINISTRY OF ENERGY AND GREEN TRANSITION

Tuesday, 13th May 2025. The Ghana Energy Awards team paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, at the Ministry in Accra.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the Awards Panel Kwame Jantuah, Esq. Other members were Dr. Kwame Ampofo, Dr. Jemima Nunoo, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, Ing. Henry Teinor (Event Director), Mr. Eugene Amoako, Mr. Kwame Atiase, Mr. Emmanuel Abossey, and Miss Stephanie Tetteh.

The visit was to formally congratulate the Minister on his appointment and to reintroduce the Ghana Energy Awards to his leadership.

Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor commended the Ghana Energy Awards for consistently promoting excellence across the sector and reaffirmed the Ministry’s support for the upcoming 9th edition, to be held in November.

“I thank you for your words of encouragement. We need all the support from you. We looked at the financials again this morning. There is a mounting debt of over US$ 3 billion in the sector. We look forward to working with you, partnering with you so we bring all the efficiencies to the sector. I assure you of my maximum support and that of the ministry. You can count on us any day.”

Speaking during the meeting, Kwame Jantuah, Esq. highlighted the vital role of the Awards in supporting a robust and resilient energy sector:

“The energy sector needs independent institutions like the Ghana Energy Awards to assess the performance of players and helps keep the sector on track.

Our initiative is bolstered by the Ministry’s support since 2016 and a rigorous, transparent awarding process validated by independent auditors. Our goal is to ensure sector institutions align with global benchmarks, a standard we proudly uphold.”

The Event Director, Ing. Henry Teinor, Event Director, expressed gratitude to the Ministry for its continued support and emphasized the significance of the longstanding partnership:

“We value this partnership deeply. It extends beyond the awards night and is reflected in our continuous engagement and consultative approach throughout the year.”
